Privacy Policy

How we handle your personal data.

Data Controller

Huisje op de Dijk, based in Kortenhoef, is responsible for processing personal data as described in this privacy policy. For questions or requests, please contact us via the contact form.

What data do we collect?

We only collect data you enter yourself via the reservation form on this website:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Desired arrival and departure date
  • Number of guests
  • Message (optional)

Why do we use your data?

Your data is used to process your reservation request, handle related communications, and fulfil our administrative and fiscal obligations, including invoicing. The legal basis for this is the performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Without your explicit consent, we do not use your data for marketing purposes and do not share it with third parties, unless this is necessary for the execution of the agreement.

Data stored upon marketing consent

The reservation form includes an optional checkbox allowing you to consent to storing your contact details for marketing communications (such as offers and news from Huisje op de Dijk). If you tick this box, we store the following data in a secure Google Spreadsheet managed by Huisje op de Dijk via Google Drive:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Stay period and apartment
  • Language
  • Legal basis: your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
  • Retention: your data is retained until you withdraw your consent or until we no longer need it.
  • Withdrawing consent: email info@huisjeopdedijk.nl with the subject 'Withdraw consent'. We will delete your data from the spreadsheet upon withdrawal.
  • Processor: Google LLC (Google Drive / Google Sheets) processes this data as a processor on behalf of Huisje op de Dijk, bound by EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long do we retain your data?

We retain your personal data no longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was provided, or for as long as required by law. Reservation data is retained for the duration of the booking and a maximum of two years thereafter, for administrative and fiscal obligations.

Technical processing

This website is hosted by Netlify. Reservation requests are processed via Netlify Forms and forwarded by email to the owner. Netlify may process technical data in accordance with their own privacy policy. Those emails are sent via Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., United States), which processes your name, email address and the details of your request. Resend acts as a processor on behalf of Huisje op de Dijk, bound by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

For visitor statistics we use Netlify Analytics. It works entirely server-side: Netlify reads its own server logs and nothing runs in your browser. Netlify Real User Monitoring additionally measures how quickly pages load. That script is served from our own domain and records only technical loading data, along with your browser type and screen size. Neither service places cookies or uses local storage in your browser; this website sets no cookies at all.

For video delivery on this website, we use Cloudinary. Cloudinary may set technical cookies, including third-party analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Heap Analytics), as part of their infrastructure. Additionally, administrator login for this website runs through GitHub; this sets no cookie on this website and the session is stored only locally in the administrator's own browser. As a visitor you are not affected by it. We do not use these services to track you as a visitor and do not ourselves collect any personal data via these cookies.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

  • Access: you can request what personal data we hold about you;
  • Rectification: you can have inaccurate data corrected;
  • Erasure: you can request your data to be deleted, insofar as this does not conflict with a statutory retention obligation;
  • Objection: you can object to the processing of your data.

To exercise your rights, please contact us via the contact form. We will respond within four weeks.

If you believe we are not handling your data correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
